Lakes End Marina Weather Policy

Lake Nantahala is located within a high-elevation Appalachian temperate rainforest, where weather conditions can change quickly and vary significantly across different areas of the lake.

For the safety of our guests and protection of our equipment, Lake’s End Marina maintains the following weather-related policies.

Guest Responsibility

Weather conditions and comfort levels can be subjective. It is the renter’s responsibility to monitor local weather forecasts and make informed decisions prior to their scheduled rental.

As a reminder, weather conditions may vary across the lake—while some areas may experience wind or rain, others may remain calm and enjoyable. Many guests find that light rain or passing weather systems still allow for an enjoyable and memorable lake experience.

Weather & Rental Policy

  • Boat rentals proceed as scheduled regardless of weather conditions, except in cases of inclement or unsafe weather.

  • Inclement weather is defined as conditions that pose a safety risk, including but not limited to:

    • Severe thunderstorms

    • High wind advisories

    • Tornado warnings

    • Heavy rain or flood advisories

      Lightning within a 6-mile radius

Operational Discretion

  • Lake’s End Marina reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to delay, restrict, cancel, or reschedule rentals due to unsafe weather conditions.

  • While we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate rescheduling, availability is not guaranteed.

Refund & Adjustment Policy

  • Lake’s End Marina reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to delay, restrict, cancel, or reschedule rentals due to unsafe weather conditions.

  • While we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate rescheduling, availability is not guaranteed.

Over-the-Water Safety

If severe weather develops while you are on the lake:

  • Move immediately to a protected cove or shoreline

  • Avoid open water and main channels

  • Stay clear of high winds and lightning exposure

  • Your safety is your responsibility while operating the vessel.

Helpful Guidance

Our team is happy to recommend protected areas of the lake based on current weather conditions to help you maximize your experience.

We strongly recommend bringing:

  • Sweatshirts or jackets

  • Windbreakers

  • Towels and blankets

Temperatures can drop quickly, especially following rain or storms.
